The devotees visiting Avanagattil Kalari can bow down in devotion and submit their mourns, griefs and sorrows to the Lord and get blessings and rid of their pain and misery and in turn get solutions in the form of prosperity. This ritual is being practiced from ancient times in purity, completeness and divinity even today at Peringottukara Avanangattil Kalari Sree Vishnumaya Temple.

    A five hour long play based on the ancient Vishnumaya story in a holistic method. Narrated as debate between Lord Krishna and Deva Guru Sree Narada Maharshi. The play beautifully portrays the Holy Hunt of Lord Parama Siva and the arrival of Vishnumayadevan to Avanagattil Kalari. The play ends with description of blessings showered to devotees by Vishnumayadevan who had been to Attakatha. The devotees even today offer this as a puja offering and the devotees are believed to be showered with blessings of Vishnumayadevan with lots of fortune, peace and family harmony and Ashta Aiswarya (Eight Blessings viz; Peace, Fortune, Beauty, Wealth, Power, Health, Long Life and Happiness.)

    Lord Sree Parameswara before beginning his Holy Hunt, was resting in Kooli Forest. During the time, He happens to see Kooli Vaka (Mohini). Lord Parama Siva gets attracted to the jungle beauty Kooli Vaka. Lord Parama Siva expresses his love and desire for her by which Kooli Vaka is confused and sad. She prays to Lordess Parvathi for a solution for her sorrow and she appears in front of her and gives her Moksha. After which Lordess Parvathi Devi transforms herself as Kooli Vaka and waits for Lord Parama Siva to return after the battle.

    The most important part of the story of the Aattakatha is the Holy Birth of Sree Vishnumayadevan is portrayed here. The creation of the Vehicle of Devan, the Sundar Mahisha by Lordess Parvathi Devi from her own body through the manifestation of positive attitudinal Blue Coloured Panka is very attractively endured here in the play. The praises, childish vishnava virattu bhava of Sree Vishnumayadevan etc are important narrations in the play.

    Taking advice from their Uncle that they sholud imbibe a strong devotional idol for destroying the evil and winning the enemies, Unnithama and Kelunni of Avanangattil kalari approaches Bhattathiri of Punchanallur Illam. In exchange of their Vigneswara, they takes Vishnumayadevan. With strong devotion and prayers offered for many days, Sree Vishnumayadevan appears in front of them. This portion is being illustrated here in the Aattakatha.

    This is being conducted every year and lasts 4 days of festivities, processions, special poojas called Vellattu Mahotsav. The art and music festivals starts even before a week at Avanangattil Kalari Mandapam. Variety of art forms are being conducted in this week long celebration and devotees enjoy in divine devotion and eternal happiness with the blessings of Vishnumayadevan. The ancient and traditional procession is a part of the Mahotsav in which Sree Vishnumayadevan along with Upadevas and devotees is taken as a procession with holy lamps, decorated ornaments accompanying all art forms, music and traditional decorations. It is a feast to the eyes and eternal devotion to one mind participating in this festival once in a year.
